After completing this studies in Sociology(BA Hons, 1989) at the University of Stellenbosch, Rudolph started his career in travel at the Thomas Cook/Rennies Travel Training Institute in Parktown, Johannesburg. He worked in corporate travel at Rennies Travel Yale in Safren House in Braamfontein for five years, moving on to Gentravel Woodmead for a good grounding in both corporate and leisure travel.

In 1998 he moved back to the Western Cape Winelands where he was born, and started ​​​​​​NEWS Travel in April 2003 in the premier wine village of Franschhoek, Western Cape, South Africa. 
NEWS Travel has been in continuous operation for 16 years.
